Nix Drones has always had two meanings. First and foremost, it is about the simple thrill of putting a camera into the sky. It is also the perfect excuse for me to drone on about the machines, journeys, places and ideas gathered around every flight.
The view from above
The drones remain the headline act. Zoom, Nemesis, Sneaker and Twitch each bring a different character to the hangar, but the purpose is shared: plan carefully, fly responsibly and return with a view that makes a familiar place feel new.
The strongest aerial photograph is rarely just a high photograph. It explains the bends in a road, the shape of a forest, the line of a trail or the reason a sunset stopped the journey for ten minutes. Altitude is useful; judgement is what turns it into a story.
The road and trail chapters
Vanilla is much more than transport. The campervan carries aircraft, batteries and cameras, then becomes a charging station, weather shelter, planning room and comfortable base when the day stretches beyond the original plan.
Torque adds the ground-level movement. The eMTB reaches forestry tracks and viewpoints that are awkward by road and too far for an idle wander. One machine gets me there, another follows the trail and the drones reveal how everything fits together.
A good Super Nix story should feel like the best sort of conversation after a day out: facts on the table, opinions freely offered and no rush to finish the tale.
What makes it Super Nix
A Super Nix blog is not a thin caption stretched until it resembles an article. It should have useful detail, real numbers where they matter, first-hand character, practical lessons and enough energy to carry the reader through the whole journey.
Some posts will be flight logs. Others will cover campervan kit, eMTB routes, technology, campsites, food, football or whatever else has earned a proper drone-on. The subject may change; the grey, black and orange point of view stays the same.
How new dispatches take off
The process is deliberately simple. I describe the subject in ChatGPT, add the photographs I want to use and include any facts, opinions or moments that must make the final cut.
That brief becomes a complete illustrated Super Nix article and is published here. No wrestling with a fiddly dashboard, no copying paragraphs between boxes and no stock photograph pretending to be Vanilla. The story arrives with its own pictures and is ready to read.
