RIDING CANNOCK CHASE
Cannock Chase gives an eMTB a little of everything: forest roads, open heathland, roots, loose surfaces, proper climbs and views worth stopping for. I ride considerately, expect walkers, dogs, horses and other cyclists, and match speed to visibility. A trail shared well is a trail worth returning to.
Birches Valley is a useful reference point, but the wider Chase is the real attraction. My routes connect local tracks, woodland and occasional pub-shaped navigation decisions into rides that feel larger than their mileage.
SCOTT ASPECT eRIDE 910: REAL OWNERSHIP
Torque is my midnight-grey Scott Aspect eRIDE 910 with a Bosch Performance Line CX motor and 600Wh battery. The assistance has not removed the effort; it has enlarged the map. I still pedal, climb and arrive muddy. I simply have enough enthusiasm left to investigate another turning.
The upright confidence, predictable power delivery and useful range suit the mixed riding I actually do. Ownership is recorded through real rides rather than a one-day review pretending to know everything before the tyres have met Staffordshire mud.
WHAT HAS EARNED ITS PLACE
My practical setup includes visible lights, secure locks, mudguards, a comfortable saddle and tools for the likely problems rather than every problem ever invented. Orange grips and pedals add the important technical benefit of making Torque look properly NIX.
I check tyre condition and pressure, brakes, drivetrain, battery, controls and anything attached to the bike before leaving. Route choice, weather and remaining battery matter more than chasing a heroic number on the display.
